Every sector has its own paperwork
A factory needs the current revision at the machine. A finance firm needs to know who changed a client file, and when it must be deleted. M‑Files is the same system in both. We set it up around your documents and your rules.
What we settle with you first
The software is the same in every sector. These four decide how well it fits yours.
- How a document is found — Each document carries what your work depends on, such as the customer, the project, the supplier or the revision. People look for the customer and get the customer's documents. M‑Files calls this metadata.
- Who acts on it next — A document moves through the steps you already follow, such as draft, review and approval. At each step M‑Files can tell the right people, give them the task, change who has access and update the document's fields.
- Who may open it — Access follows the customer, the project or the case a document belongs to, and the kind of document it is. It can change as the work moves on.
- When it is deleted — A rule on a type of document, or on the customer or case it belongs to, deletes it automatically when its period has passed.
